Three steps:
Cadence is built on Apple's Screen Time APIs. Authorization lets the app monitor usage of your selected apps and apply the shield when your budget runs out.
Because of how Apple designed these APIs, Cadence only receives opaque system tokens for your selections — never your actual usage history, browsing data, or app contents. Everything is processed on your device. See our Privacy Policy.
The shield always shows the exact time your apps become available again (for example, "Available at 3:45 PM."). When the break ends, tap Unlock on the shield to jump straight back in.
Yes. Shields and schedules survive force-quits and device restarts. Cadence repairs its state in the background, so after a restart it may take a few minutes for everything to fully recover — this is normal iOS behavior.
You can include website domains in your selection. Website shielding in Safari depends on Safari's behavior, and may not apply in every browser or embedded web view.
It protects your own settings. Once set, changing critical settings requires the password — so a moment of weakness cannot undo the commitment your future self made.
The password is stored only as a salted digest on your device. It is never sent anywhere and cannot be read back.
No — and that is by design. A recoverable password would not be a real commitment. Choose something memorable when you set it.
Deleting Cadence removes all locally stored data, including the password, but also removes your policy and monitoring. Only do this if you fully intend to stop using the app.
No. Cadence has no accounts, no servers, no analytics, and no ads. Your selections, settings, and break schedule live only on your device, in a private sandboxed container. Read the full Privacy Policy.
